Northern Minnesota has so many lakes and wetlands that somtimes it is hard to figure where the good diving spots are.  Check out the "Great Places to dive" link up above to see some of our favorite dive spots.

Does this seem familiar?
"I just got my certification and now I want to buy gear or I need people to dive with."

Sometime buying Scuba gear from the shop that you get your certification from isn't always the best approach.  As you develop your diving skills your needs for gear are going to change.  By Change I mean water temperatures, depths, and just plain interests
Keep this in mind, dive shops are going to endorse the product that they sell, but that doesn't mean their product is what you are gong to want in the long run.
Dive shops also sell product at a profit, so in some cases you don't necessarily need to buy from the shop if it will save you money.  Most of the time if the gear you buy isn't going to need to be serviced or have a warranty on it, you can find the exact same gear at cost somewhere else.  What has happened to me is, some of the gear that I initially bought is inadequate for what I want to do now.  The regulator I bought doesn't meet the requirements of the diving that I want to do.  I bought a Cressi wet suit when I coulda bought a Mares, Akona, or Henderson which have better features for less money.
I am hoping that through this website you will develop a good understanding as to what kind of gear you want, where some god websites are for different types of diving and buying Scuba gear are, what all the different brand names are (although brands aren't always everything), and the names of some of the  local dive shops in the area.
Is there one brand that is better than the other?  That depends on the type of diving that you are doing, usually you can tell the worthiness of the name by where the gear is used.  You wont find very many Cressi regulators in Antarctica. Why? Cressi isn't really meant for the extremely cold water dives.  So you should really do your research and see what is good for what you want to do.

I really hope that my experience and mistakes help you become a better diver.
